Would someone please review this soundfont. There is a falty piano review here for some reason. I think this is probably the most useful trombone soundfont out there. I also have a new version that is smaller that I need to upload. I trimmed up the source samples and got it down to 1MB.

It's not trombone

It's not trombone. Never heard. I don't think this is trombone.

sounds like a trombone to me

It certainly ain't a piano, that's for sure. Not quite as sophisticated or consistent as the more recent orchestral trombone from the same author, but has character and would make a good soloist. Recommended.

good samples

there are some really good samples used for this soundfont. I only think the transision from sample to sample doesn't flow. If you go from a2 to b2 there is a great difference in sound, also hearable in other octaves. But still a good soundfont!

Decent soundfont
Review submitted by Frictional Antidote from America on October 08. 2003

I am a trombone player and have been for the last six years. Though the soundfont could use a little work here and there, It is an overall decent soundfont. As for what the people are saying about noticable changes as the trombone gets higher and lower in pitch; as this trombone soundfont gets higher, it very well mimics what a real trombone does. That is, it tends to get a more mellow sound as the pitch gets higher, unless the player is blasting his brains out. The rough transition is in the lower octaves, but really, unless you are composing jazz music and are in need of a bass trombone, you won't really be using notes that low anyway. So that is my review. Overall, well done.

Excellent soundfont

I used this soundfont in an arrangement of pachelbel's canon using a mix of soundfonts and live instruments - and this sound very realistic.
